Oil & Gas Contract Amendment

In the oil and gas business, contractual arrangements change over time, with necessary or desired alterations being sought to to the contractual underpinnings of the parties' commercial relationships. As such, the original contract between the parties (if they are even the original parties anymore) will require revision, amendment, updating, modification or some other form of alterationed to meet the demands of the current business situation.

For whereas a signed contract represents the agreement between parties at a particular point in time, with some contemplation being given to anticipated developments over the life time of the contract, what actually transpires over time cannot be predicted with any certainty, such that when changes do arise, it may be necessary to revise or amend the contract to reflect such alterations to the business relationship as it strives to realize the respective interests of each of the contracting parties.
